FOODS I HAVE BEEN CRAVING WHILE ON THE MASTER CLEANSE, IN ORDER OF APPEARANCE:

A sandwich. Big, thick, fluffy grain bread slices with chewy brown crust filled with big slabs of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, thinly sliced turkey, dijon mustard and just a touch of vegenaise.

Pizza. I want pizza every single day. The Bird is taking me to Apizza Scholls when the cleanse is done. My sense of smell has been heightened so much during these last few days that tonight I could smell the pizza shop around the corner and halfway down the block from my front porch.

Handi-Snacks. Part of the purpose of this cleanse is to re-train myself to dislike heavily processed foods and snacks that I don't need and that are garbage for me. This is one of those, along with fruit snacks and sugar-water drinks. I haven't been missing these since Day 2, which is nice.

A waffle. A thick, warm Belgian waffle topped with fresh strawberries and homemade whipped cream. A big glass of pulpy orange juice.

Macaroni and cheese. From a box. Eat it right out of the pot with dill and cock sauce (heh).

Fried chicken. Hot, juicy, tender meat inside a crispy golden skin. A light, fluffy, golden biscuit dripping with honey and butter.

Fried chicken and macaroni and cheese on a waffle! Maybe I'll have brunch at Screen Door.

A blueberry muffin.

Fried chicken again. Was craving it tonight when I read this. Damn, that looks soooo good! A girl after my own heart - fast food chicken and champagne.

Lee Price

Lee Price's photo-realistic oil paintings of women eating food, often self-portraits, are fantastic. I love the perspective she uses, it feels like a complete invasion of the subject''s privacy, like I'm spying on this woman gorging herself. Sometimes she's sad, sometimes she feels vulnerable, sometimes she appears relaxed and comforted. The artist's use of junk foods is awesome to me, too. The feminist me likes that the artist is a woman, painting women. I like everything about these.
